Introducing the
Safe & Sure Seal:
Your assurance of
safety and quality
Are you an importer of portable ladders or mobile access towers looking to stand out in a crowded market?
The Safe & Sure Seal is the certification you need to demonstrate to consumers that your products meet stringent UK safety standards. Developed by the Ladder Association, the UK’s leading industry body for portable ladders, and PASMA, the leading industry body for access towers, this certification is your gateway to building trust and credibility with your customers.
What is the Safe & Sure Seal?
The Safe & Sure Seal is an independent third-party certification aimed specifically at UK-based importers of portable ladders and mobile access towers. Unlike existing certifications that cater primarily to manufacturers, our scheme focuses on the needs of importers. It ensures that your products meet the relevant standards, offering consumers a reliable way to make informed buying decisions.

Current seal schemes
PASMA Compatibility Protocol:
PASMA has developed a Compatibility Protocol for mobile towers. It contains requirements for manufacturers who claim their tower is compatible with another, whereby the “Hybrid Tower” (made of parts from two different manufacturers) is assessed against the requirements of EN 1004 Parts 1 and 2, and additional requirements contained in the protocol.
Portable Ladders (EN 131):
The Ladder Association has developed this scheme for ladders in the EN 131 family of standards. These include:
- Leaning ladders (e.g. single section, extension or rope-operated ladders)
- Standing ladders (e.g. swing back steps, platform steps)
- Combination ladders (e.g. ladders that be used in leaning and standing mode)
- Telescopic ladders
- Single and multiple hinge-joint ladders
Aimed at importers who bring and safe products into the UK, Safe & Sure Seal holders can demonstrate their quality products in a challenging market.
